Paige and Mike: Sneak Peek

Paige and Mike are getting married in Flournoy, Ca at Mike's family ranch on May 8, 2010. We had a mini engagement session out on the ranch last weekend when they were up from San Fransisco. Mike's grandfather bought the property back in the 50's and his original house is still there. We had a great time touring the site with Paige and Mike, and can't wait to use all the great locations for their wedding portraits! For now, here is a little sneak peek of their engagement portraits.

Florence, Oregon

A little while ago we traveled up to the dunes in Oregon to spend some time with our friends. The first day we got there the weather was perfect, and Dusty even tried out dirt biking in the dunes! Dusty got dragged out shopping with us girls, and he and I went exploring downtown and then antiquing. He is so great! Unfortunately, despite a couple hours of searching, we were unable to find more cute chairs for our props. Afterwards, we headed up the coast to the Heceta Point Light House to quickly scout for locations for the engagement pictures we were going to do later that afternoon with Jenny and Randy, and Randy's brother Andy and his fiancee Cinamon. The weather was perfect up until we got back to the vacation rental and then it started raining! I was very disappointed, and there was talk of us not doing the engagement sessions. We had even checked the weather for the whole weekend before we left and it was supposed to be sunny! In the end, we did end up going, and we managed to find two black umbrellas. It was really raining for the majority of the shots, and I had to use an umbrella myself while trying to juggle the cameras all at the same time. We realized that we need to invest in some water resistant camera gear! Anyway, the next day we went home, but on the way we went to the antique shops in Jacksonville, Oregon and I finally found two new chairs!

Baby Portraits: Ava

I had such a hard time narrowing the pictures from this session for the sneak peek because Ava is sooo adorable in all of them! When her mom brought in all of her clothing options, I had a very hard time selecting which outfits I wanted to have her in! Nicole even brought four fairy outfits, and I have to admit that I am a sucker when it comes to fairies. Ava was a doll the whole session. I could have taken pictures of her all day! However, I was forced to stop when we started loosing light, and it was a good thing we did because Ava was realizing it was long past her bed time! I am sure Nicole was glad that it was over, too, because some of Ava's little maneuvers, like standing in the chairs, were making everyone quite nervous.

Engagement: Celeste and Sean

We were lucky to miss the rain by a few days for Celeste and Sean's engagement session. For their session, we headed out to Live Oak Road in Red Bluff to a field of flowers. At first we couldn't figure out what type of flower they were, but eventually we decided that they must be very small poppies! Then we headed over to their friend's house for some more pics. The property and the house were beautiful! There were so many great backdrops for their portraits with the barn, horse corral, and pond. I think both of their eyes look amazing in the pictures, especially the headshot with them both looking at the camera. We are very excited about their upcoming wedding in May! Celeste and Sean are getting married at Sky Lake Gardens in Durham, CA, and I am sure the blossoms will be spectacular at that time of year!

Engagement Sneak Peek: Jenny and Randy

Last weekend we shot Jenny and Randy's engagement pics on our ranch in between Red Bluff, CA and Chico, CA. They are two of our best friends so Dusty gave them plenty of grief over being pretty nervous about getting their portraits done. As you can see below, though, they did a great job! They are getting married on August 22nd at the Rock'n R Ranch in O'Brien, Oregon. (Dusty's getting ordained to marry them, too!) Next weekend we're going to the dunes up in Florence, OR for Part 2 of the engagement pics at the beach!
